Changes to deliveries during the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games

Sending items to addresses in London:
Royal Mail will continue to deliver mail to businesses and residential addresses six days a week during the Olympic Games. Deliveries will be earlier in the morning during the Games period. This is because they expect it to take longer to collect and deliver mail every day around parts of London due to the changes to the transport system. This may mean that deliveries to addresses in London may take place earlier or later in the day than usual. Postmen and women will start their rounds earlier, to ensure they can complete them, given the extra travelling time required. Because of this, some mail which is not ready for the start of deliveries may be held in our system and delivered the next working day.
Special Delivery™ Next Day service will continue to operate into and out of London during the Games period. Whilst Royal Mai expect to be able to deliver items in some parts of London by 1pm, transport restrictions and extended travel times mean Royal Mail cannot guarantee to do this for all items in all areas throughout the Games period. So to provide customers using this service with clear guidance, items due for delivery in London, postcode areas E, EC, N, NW, SE, SW, W, WC, from 23 July until 17 September, will be guaranteed for delivery next day rather than specifically for 1pm the next day. This means items posted to these postcode areas from Friday 20 July will not be guaranteed by 1pm.
